Dedicated to assisting underserved children in their health, personal development, education and enjoyment of life, the Steve Nash Foundation operates globally to increase access to critical needs resources for children affected by poverty, illness, abuse or neglect. Through its own initiatives, as well as grants to child-focused non-profits, the Foundation builds healthy communities by growing health in kids.
The Foundation focuses its work in Arizona (Educare Arizona, an early learning initiative), British Columbia (BC Grants), nationally across Canada (c.a.r.e., a child abuse prevention strategy in cooperation with the Canadian Red Cross), and the USA (Child Abuse Research and Education initiative), and overseas in Paraguay (Support Hope, providing for critical needs health and community resources).
Proceeds from the 2013 Showdown will benefit Educare and child abuse research and prevention: part of a national network of centers for excellence, Educare Arizona opened doors in September 2011 to create high quality educational opportunities and healthcare access for children ages birth to five years, and their families; the Foundation's child abuse research and education initiative targets root causes of child abuse with an aim to ending child abuse for child abuse patients.
